Can you fit a Bike Rack to a LandRover Defender with Spare Wheel?

Yes you can!  We are often asked if this is possible as it's difficult to fit a bike rack to a Defender with a Spare Wheel on the back of the vehicle.  But we have found a way to do this as shown in our image which shows a Thule VeloSpace XT 3 Bike Carrier fitted.  It is not an easy job but it can be done with the following steps.

1^st Build rack with spare wheel adapter first!

2^nd Change wire setting so that you can drop bike rack to the lowest position

3^rd Drop the spare wheel adapter

4^th Open rear door on Defender fully

5^th Clamp on the bike rack

6^th Close the door

7^th Secure the wheel adapter in position

8^th Tilt the rack

9^th  You can open the door to access the boot but not fully
