HOW MUCH SHOULD I SPEND?
Inevitably, budget is going to play a major factor in your decision. However, be rest assured that all of our roof boxes are excellent quality. We only stock Thule branded cargo boxes as we believe these are the best on the market. All ranges are capable of doing the job but bear in mind some of the cheaper models might not have as many features as you require. More on this below.

WHAT SIZE AND SHAPE IS BEST FOR MY REQUIREMENTS?
This is going to depend on what you plan to take in your roof box and if you want to carry anything else on your roof bars such as a cycle carrier.
If you plan to transport something long, such as ski's, you will need a narrower box (sometimes called "sport" versions). All narrow boxes state the length and number of ski's that you can fit inside. Narrow boxes will provide you with plenty of space to load something next to the box.
If you don't require a long box then you can go for something wider which may still allow for loading of something else next to it. It depends on what you want to load and how much space you have on your bars. Dimensions of boxes are stated so you can check how much space you will have once loaded onto the vehicle. Be sure to check how much load width your roof bars allow (and don't forget to check maximum load weight)

ANOTHER THING TO CONSIDER
Dual side opening box?
Most boxes are dual opening, meaning they can be opened from both sides which is very handy if you choose a wide box that can be accessed easily from either side of the vehicle.
Not all boxes have dual opening and it's not essential if you need a narrow box that will be loaded on one side of the roof as it would be difficult to reach the other side from the road.

ALSO CONSIDER BOOT ACCESS
Longer boxes may over hang the front of the roof, which is not an issue but you need to consider how much space it will take up at the rear of the vehicle if you need access to the boot. Check the dimensions on the listing and be sure you can load the box and not cause any obstruction at the back.
Each of our Roof Box listings includes a section for "Hatch Clearance" which will give you the measurement for the front clearance. This will help you understand how much space you have and what the maximum size roof box you can fit on your vehicle
